Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev as part of the visit of the Turkmen delegation to Tashkent. According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during the meeting, Rashid Meredov conveyed greetings to the head of Uzbekistan from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The parties emphasized that relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have reached a qualitatively new level, having acquired the character of a strategic partnership. High-level contacts play a decisive role in enhancing interaction between the two countries.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to the further development of Turkmen-Uzbek bilateral cooperation in priority areas of political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian nature.
An exchange of views also took place on topical issues of the regional and international agenda, including in the context of upcoming high-level events in bilateral and multilateral formats.
In addition, during the visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Foreign Policy, Honorary Elder of Turkmenistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, during which key areas of partnership between the two countries were discussed, the press service of the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.
