The Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-European Union (EU) transport corridor is officially fully operational. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan Beknazar Bazaraliyev, Report reports citing Kyrgyz media.

According to him, Kyrgyz freight carriers actively use this route to deliver goods to Europe. Transportation is carried out through Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and the port of “Turkmenbashy”, from where the goods are sent across the Caspian Sea to the Azerbaijani port of “Alyat” and further to Europe.

The route opens up new opportunities for the North-South Transport Corridor. It allows cargo to be transported from Kyrgyzstan to the port of Turkmenbashy (Turkmenistan), and then across the Caspian Sea to the port of “Alyat” (Azerbaijan) with further shipment to Europe or Astrakhan (Russia). The distance from Bishkek to the port of Turkmenbashy is 2,5 thousand kilometers.

It is noted that this corridor is an important part of the route “Asia-Pacific region – China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan – Georgia – Türkiye – Europe”.
