Events dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade were held in Ashgabat. A meeting with Galina Mamedova, a resident of besieged Leningrad, was held in the Department of Education, Science and Culture of the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan. Students of the Joint Turkmen-Russian School named after A.S. Pushkin and their parents took part in the meeting. Galina Mamedova shared her memories of the tragic and heroic days of the blockade. As part of the event, the “Blockade Bread” campaign was held for the first time in Turkmenistan, where everyone present was given an analogue of the daily ration of residents of besieged Leningrad – a piece of bread weighing 125 grams.

The evening was decorated with military songs performed by People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Gulnara Nuryeva and the poem “Leningrad Salute” performed by 9th grade student Matvey Gulyanitsky.
