Christopher Duggan, the new Ambassador of Canada to Turkmenistan with residence in Astana, presented copies of his credentials to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov. During the official ceremony, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral relations, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
The Deputy Minister congratulated the diplomat on his appointment and assured him of Turkmenistan’s readiness to provide comprehensive support in the implementation of his diplomatic mission. During the meeting, special attention was paid to strengthening cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The parties also confirmed their intention to continue mutual support for initiatives within the UN and noted the need to improve the bilateral legal framework. Ambassador Duggan, in turn, expressed his readiness to make every effort to strengthen the partnership between Canada and Turkmenistan in all areas of mutual interest.
