Tracey Ann Jacobson, who headed the US Embassy in Turkmenistan in 2003-2006, will assume her duties as the US Chargé d'Affaires a.i. in Bangladesh on January 11, 2025, the diplomatic mission's website reported.

During her 20-year diplomatic career, Jacobson served as the US Ambassador three times: to Tajikistan (2006-2009), Turkmenistan (2003-2006) and Kosovo (2012-2015). Before her new appointment, she served as a senior adviser in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs and as the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. in Ethiopia.

The diplomat holds two degrees from Johns Hopkins University – a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in international relations. For her services to the US diplomatic service, she was awarded the State Department's highest award – For Distinguished Service, as well as two presidential awards.

She will replace Megan Boldin, who will continue to serve as deputy head of mission in Dhaka, as acting head of the diplomatic mission.
