Head coach of the French national team Didier Deschamps announced his decision to leave the national team after the 2026 World Cup. The specialist said this in an interview with RMC Sport.
"After the 2026 World Cup, it will all be over. We need to be able to say 'stop'. The French team remains at the top, where it has been for many years," Deschamps said.
During his 12 years of work with the national team, Deschamps achieved impressive results. Under his leadership, the French played 166 matches, winning 106 times, drawing 31 times and losing 29 times. The coach's main achievement was winning the 2018 World Cup in Russia. In addition, the French national team won the 2021/22 Nations League, became the silver medalist of Euro 2016 and the 2022 World Cup.
Deschamps has been in charge of the French national team since 2012, and his final tournament will be the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19.
