Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has launched the Clean Sri Lanka programme, a national initiative aimed at a comprehensive transformation of the country. The initiative was launched at a ceremony attended by senior officials and government officials, Xinhua reported.
In his speech, the President stressed that 2025 will be a turning point in the formation of a new political culture in the country. The Clean Sri Lanka programme is aimed not only at improving the environment but also at addressing deeper social issues.
“This initiative is aimed at cleaning and rejuvenating all sectors of society,” Dissanayake said, noting the critical importance of public participation in the implementation of the programme.
The new programme is one of the three key objectives of the government, along with the fight against rural poverty and the development of the digital economy. Particular attention will be paid to combating corruption, bribery and misuse of public funds, which the President said have become serious problems for the country.
