According to the German Foundation for World Population (DSW), the global population showed growth in 2024, increasing by approximately 82 million people. According to the organization's forecasts, by January 1, 2025, the total number of inhabitants of the planet will reach 8,156 billion people, TASS reports.
The study showed that the main population growth is occurring on the African continent. DSW experts predict that Africa's population could more than double over the next twenty years. Meanwhile, Germany's population has remained stable at 84 million people.
The United Nations estimates that by 2037 the world's population could surpass 9 billion for the first time in history.
