The first significant international event was a visit to Moscow on May 9 to participate in the celebrations dedicated to the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. During the visit, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, together with other leaders of states, took part in a military parade on Red Square and a flower-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This visit had a special symbolic significance, given that more than 265 thousand Turkmen citizens fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, of whom 104 were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
August was marked by an important visit to Astana to participate in the VI Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. The visit coincided with a period of active development of Turkmen-Kazakh relations - trade turnover between the countries increased by 28% over the past year. During the meeting, major infrastructure projects were discussed, including the construction of the 225-kilometer "border of Kazakhstan - Garabogaz - Turkmenbashy" highway.
In September, the President of Turkmenistan visited Astana again, where he took part in the second Central Asia-Germany summit. This format of the meeting emphasized the growing role of the Central Asian states in international politics and their desire to diversify foreign economic relations.
Of particular importance was the October visit to Moscow to attend the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, where a decision was made on Turkmenistan's co-chairmanship of the Commonwealth in 2025 together with Russia. Later that month, a historic visit to Kazan took place to attend the XVI BRICS Summit – Turkmenistan's first participation in the events of this influential international association.
A significant event at the end of the year was the official visit of the President to Malaysia on December 18-20, during which important bilateral documents were signed and new areas of cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were outlined. This visit was an important step in strengthening Turkmenistan's ties with the ASEAN countries.
The final chord of the President's international activities in 2024 was his participation in the informal summit of the CIS heads of state in St. Petersburg on December 25, where the leaders of the seven Commonwealth countries discussed the results of the year and prospects for further cooperation.
