The administration of the Maltese city of Zebbug has come up with a touching initiative – organizing a festive Christmas dinner for city residents who are celebrating the holiday alone, euro-pulse.ru reports.
An invitation to the festive meal was posted on the city's official social media pages. The event will take place in one of the parish centers, where a team of volunteers, led by a professional chef from a local restaurant, will be responsible for preparing the food.
Initiatives like these are becoming increasingly important in Europe, where the problem of loneliness has worsened since the pandemic, doubling the number of lonely people. Interesting projects to address this issue are emerging in different countries: in Gothenburg, Sweden, special benches have been installed for strangers to communicate, and in France, an online platform has been launched that connects elderly French people with foreign students studying French.
