On Saturday, December 14, the founder of the international chain of Mango stores, Isak Andik, died in the mountains of Catalonia. He was 72 years old. The company officially confirmed the information about the death of its founder, snob.ru reports.
Details of the tragedy were published in the Spanish publications El Pais and El Mundo. According to them, the businessman died as a result of an accident in the Montserrat mountain range, near the Salnitre caves. While walking, Andik slipped on the path and fell into the gorge. His family was nearby, his son Jonathan immediately called the rescuers, but they were unable to help the entrepreneur.
Isak Andik’s biography is closely connected with the fashion industry. Born in 1953 in Istanbul, he moved to Barcelona with his family at the age of 16. In 1984, together with his brother Nachman, he founded the first Mango store. Interestingly, the brand name was chosen in honor of the mango fruit, the taste of which Andik first tried in the Philippines.
Today, the chain has about 2,100 stores in 110 countries. Forbes magazine estimated the fortune of Isak Andik and his family at 4.5 billion dollars.
