President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Iranian Energy Minister Abbas Ali Abadi and Chairman of the Central Bank of Iran Mohammadreza Farzi. During the visit, issues of expanding bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector and diversifying energy supplies to world markets were discussed, TDH reports.
As noted, fraternal and good-neighborly relations between Turkmenistan and Iran have their roots in ancient times and today are traditionally developing on the basis of principles of mutual respect and understanding, both bilaterally and within the framework of international organizations.
Trade and economic cooperation is one of the priority areas of bilateral relations. Iran occupies an important place in Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover.
As is known, Turkmenistan is in favor of diversifying energy supplies to world markets. Currently, our country is working with its partners to implement several significant energy projects. Having emphasized that these events are carried out taking into account environmental safety, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to support initiatives and proposals aimed at further developing and strengthening bilateral relations.
