Turkmenistan and Tajikistan discussed strengthening political and economic cooperation

Political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, headed by Deputy Foreign Ministers Ahmet Gurbanov and Imomi Sodiq Ashurboyzada, were held in Dushanbe, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

During the consultations, political and diplomatic relations between the two countries were discussed, the importance of regular contacts at the highest level was emphasized. Particular emphasis was placed on issues of interaction within the framework of regional and international structures, in particular the UN.

The interlocutors emphasized the effectiveness of the partnership between the ministries of foreign affairs. In this context, the diplomats highly appreciated the level of relations within the framework of the current Cooperation Program between the ministries of foreign affairs of the two countries. At the same time, issues related to improving the legal framework of bilateral relations were considered.

The parties assessed the state of trade, economic and investment partnership. The need to improve the conditions conducive to the further development of relations in this area was emphasized, including issues of increasing export-import operations, expanding the range of goods and services provided.

In addition, the delegation members focused on the cultural and humanitarian areas of cooperation. They emphasized the positive experience of interaction in the field of science and education. The parties agreed to continue the practice of organizing cultural and scientific exchanges.

As part of the visit to Tajikistan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan A. Gurbanov also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of Turkmen-Tajik cooperation, and also touched upon international and regional issues of mutual interest.
