November 14 is World Diabetes Day. This international date serves as a rallying point for the global diabetes community, including healthcare professionals, organizations and individuals, to fight the disease.

This day also serves as an important reminder to all progressive humanity that the prevalence of the disease is steadily increasing.

Traditionally, on this day, Myrat Garryev the State Medical University of Turkmenistan holds an annual scientific and practical conference dedicated to current topics in diabetology, the newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan” reports.

Participants discuss issues such as the characteristics of the course of type 1 diabetes in children and adolescents, as well as an artificial intelligence program for early detection using the FINDRICS scale.

Particular attention is given to the discussion of new extended-release analog insulins and insulin pumps. The importance of diet therapy and dosed physical exercise is separately noted.

The conference participants will also consider issues of prevention and modern methods of treating diabetes mellitus and its complications.

Holding such conferences promotes the exchange of experience between mentors and successors in this field of medicine and the improvement of qualifications.

World Diabetes Day is celebrated on the birthday of Frederick Banting, a Canadian physician and physiologist who co-discovered the hormone insulin. The date was established by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1991 in response to the growing prevalence of diabetes worldwide.
