A meeting between the authorized representative for human rights in Turkmenistan, Yazdursun Gurbannazarova, and the first deputy Public Defender of Georgia, Tamar Gvaramadze, was held in the office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan.
As reported by “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, the purpose of the meeting was to familiarize with the experience of the central office of the Public Defender's Office of Georgia, its departments and regional offices, as well as to discuss the agenda of bilateral cooperation. The development of cooperation in the field of ensuring human rights and freedoms was also discussed.
Tamar Gvaramadze arrived in Ashgabat to participate in a seminar on the topic “International Practice of Effective Mechanisms for Considering Complaints by National Human Rights Institutions” held for the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan. During the seminar, an overview of the working mechanism of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan was given, discussion sessions were organized, where participants actively expressed their views and opinions on the development of proposals to strengthen the existing standard procedure.
Let us remind that in November 2023, the Turkmen delegation headed by Y. Gurbannazarova, having visited Georgia, met with the Public Defender of Georgia Levan Ioseliani. At the meeting, the possibilities of exchanging experience and issues of cooperation in the near future were discussed.
