India plans to deepen partnership with Turkmenistan in the areas of information technology, medicine, pharmaceuticals and healthcare in 2025, Indian Ambassador to Ashgabat Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat said at an event at the Indian embassy. According to the diplomat, special attention will be paid to the development of the IT sector, where India is a recognized leader. Indian companies also intend to take part in the creation of a medical cluster in the city of Arkadag.

The Ambassador noted a significant strengthening of bilateral relations in 2024, during which exchanges of delegations of journalists and youth were organized. An important cultural event was the participation of the Indian side in the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi and the installation of a statue of the Indian writer and poet Rabindranath Tagore in Turkmenistan.

Currently, about 100 Indian citizens live in Turkmenistan, working mainly in the textile and oil and gas industries. Educational ties are actively developing – recently a group of 20 young Turkmen specialists visited India as part of the ITEC and ICCR programs.

On Tuesday, the Indian Embassy in Ashgabat hosted an event dedicated to the launch ceremony of a website for the Indian diaspora in honor of the national holiday Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, which is celebrated annually on January 9.
