The transport and communications complex of Turkmenistan demonstrated significant growth in 2024, reaching 119,1% in terms of work performed and services provided in January-October. This was announced by the Director
General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers M. Chakyyev at a government meeting.
“During the reporting period, the growth rate for the performance of work and provision of services in the complex as a whole amounted to 119,1 percent”, - the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) quotes Chakyev as saying.
According to the report, cargo transportation by all modes of transport increased by 3,3%, and passenger transportation by 4,3%. The largest growth was demonstrated by the agency “Türkmenhowaýollary” – 154,5%. Significant dynamics were also demonstrated by “Türkmenaragatnaşyk” (114,6%), “Türkmendeňizderýaýollary” (114%) and “Türkmenawtoulaglary” (110%).
The meeting also discussed the implementation of the concept for the development of the digital economy and the construction of new transport facilities in various regions of the country.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov set tasks for further modernization of the transport system, improving the quality of services and expanding the digitalization of the industry. Particular attention was paid to the development of the “Balkan” Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Yard in accordance with international standards.
