The US presidential election has ended. According to the latest data, Republican candidate Donald Trump is in the lead. In the event of disputed results, a recount may be required, which further delays the process of determining the winner. Thus, in the 2020 elections, the final results were announced only four days later.
Despite the preliminary election results, the official recognition of the candidate's victory is the electoral vote, which takes place on December 17. After that, the US Congress counts these votes on January 6, and only after that the election results are considered finally confirmed. The final stage will be the inauguration of the new, 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025.
