On the sidelines of the 16th BRICS summit, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
As reported by TDH, the head of Turkmenistan and the head of the largest international organization discussed the current state and prospects for the development of a constructive dialogue, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in solving global problems.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated Guterres on UN Day and expressed confidence in further strengthening the partnership. The UN Secretary-General, in turn, thanked for the hospitality during his visit to Ashgabat and noted Turkmenistan’s commitment to the principles of neutrality and international cooperation.
The parties discussed expanding cooperation in the field of ecology, health protection and sustainable development. Turkmenistan confirmed its readiness to continue close cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies, especially in Central Asia, where the country is a reliable partner in ensuring peace and security.
“Today, the development of multifaceted strategic cooperation with the United Nations is one of the priorities of our country’s foreign policy,” said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, emphasizing that Turkmenistan fully supports the initiatives of the international community to ensure peace, security and sustainable development under the auspices of the UN.
