Representatives of the creative industry have united in a large-scale initiative against the illegal use of their works in the field of artificial intelligence. Famous musicians, including a member of the legendary group ABBA, the frontman of Radiohead, as well as recognized actors, including Oscar winner Julianne Moore, have joined the protest. In a collective appeal, creative figures expressed serious concern about how their works are used without permission to develop AI technologies. The document was signed by outstanding figures in culture and art, including authors Kazuo Ishiguro, Ann Patchett and Kate Moss, musicians Robert Smith from The Cure and composer Max Richter, as well as actors Kevin Bacon, Rosario Dawson and F. Murray Abraham.

The initiator of the appeal was a British composer who previously worked in the field of AI technologies. According to him, technology companies invest heavily in development and specialists, but seek to avoid the costs of acquiring rights to content to train their systems.

It is especially emphasized that behind the term “training data” lies many years of work by creative people – their musical works, artistic works and literary works, which deserve respect and copyright protection.
