At the headquarters of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) in Brussels, a meeting of ambassadors of Central Asian countries with the Secretary General of the organization, Captain of the Navy Roberto Recchia was held. During the meeting, issues of the CISM activities, its initiatives and the participation of Central Asian countries in international sports events were discussed. This was stated in the message of the Turkmen diplomatic mission.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium emphasized that sports are an important priority for the country in both domestic and foreign policy. He noted: «For Turkmenistan, sports are not only a key part of our national program, but also an important factor in international relations. We actively support sports initiatives at all levels and are ready to offer Turkmenistan as a venue for major international competitions, given our successful experience of holding the Asian Games in 2017.»

The CISM Secretary General spoke in detail about the work of the organization and emphasized the importance of more active participation of Central Asian countries in sports competitions held around the world. He also noted that CISM strives to involve as many countries as possible in its activities to develop military sports and strengthen international ties through sports initiatives.

“The Turkmen side expressed its readiness to further expand cooperation with the International Military Sports Council,” the statement said.

Note:

The International Military Sports Council (CISM) is an international organization founded in 1948 that unites military structures of different countries to promote peace and friendship through sports. CISM hosts sports events involving military personnel from more than 140 countries.

Turkmenistan became a member of CISM in 2018 and has since actively supported the development of military sports, seeking to increase its participation in international competitions organized under the auspices of this organization.
