A serious accident occurred at the country's main thermal power plant in Cuba, which led to a large-scale failure in the power grid. As a result of this incident, about ten million people were left without electricity, MIR24 reports.

The capital of the country, Havana, like other cities, was plunged into darkness. Traffic lights on the streets are not working, which creates serious problems for traffic. Residents are forced to use candles and lanterns to light their homes.

The situation is so serious that the authorities decided to cancel classes in schools. Many institutions have also ceased operations due to the lack of electricity.

In addition, there are reports of interruptions in mobile communications and the Internet, which further aggravates the situation and makes it difficult for residents to communicate.

It is not yet known how long it will take to restore the power grid. The country's authorities have not yet made official statements about the causes of the accident and the time frame for eliminating the consequences.
