Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan Strengthen Strategic Partnership at the Highest Level

Today, in Ashgabat, negotiations were held between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who arrived in the Turkmen capital on an official visit. The meeting ended with the signing of a number of important documents aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation, TDH reports.

In the afternoon, the President of Kazakhstan, accompanied by an honorary escort of motorcyclists, arrived at the Oguzhan Presidential Palace Complex, where he was warmly welcomed by the President of Turkmenistan. After an official photo session against the backdrop of the national flags of the two countries, the presidents held one-on-one talks in the Rowaç hall.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to his Kazakh counterpart for the visit and participation in the International Forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi. He noted that this is the fifth Turkmen-Kazakh summit this year, which indicates a high level of mutual understanding and trust.

During the talks, issues of bilateral cooperation in various areas, including energy, transport, logistics and cultural and humanitarian interaction were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the development of economic ties and the implementation of joint projects, such as the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of Kazakhstan’s support for Turkmenistan’s neutral foreign policy and assistance in promoting its initiatives in the international arena. He also noted that Turkmenistan is ready to further strengthen fraternal and friendly ties with Kazakhstan, as well as to continue joint work in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in turn, expressed gratitude for the invitation to visit Ashgabat and emphasized that Turkmenistan is a close and strategic partner for Kazakhstan. He noted the importance of regular bilateral meetings at the highest level, which serve as a solid basis for expanding multifaceted cooperation.

During the negotiations, which were held in a trusting atmosphere and in a constructive manner, the presidents discussed a wide range of issues of Turkmen-Kazakh cooperation in the context of implementing previously reached agreements and promising plans for the future. The parties also exchanged views on a number of pressing issues of the regional and global agenda of mutual interest.

The negotiations continued in the Soltan Sanjar hall in an expanded format, with the participation of members of the official delegations of the two countries. The history of relations between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan goes back many centuries, and during this time truly fraternal ties have been formed. The two states and peoples are united not only by geography, but also by the awareness of the inseparability of historical destinies, common values ​​and traditions.

A striking symbol of friendship and brotherhood of peoples was the opening this year of monuments to outstanding personalities – the Turkmen poet, philosopher and thinker Magtymguly Fragi in the capital of Kazakhstan – Astana, and the Kazakh poet, philosopher and educator Abai Kunanbayuly in Ashgabat. The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the solemn ceremonies dedicated to these events.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the existing level of trust and mutual understanding allows the countries to confidently build their relations for the future, coordinate approaches to key issues of international politics, and formulate long-term plans for cooperation in the economy, trade, investment activities, and the cultural and humanitarian sphere.

At the end of the expanded negotiations, a signing ceremony of bilateral documents was held in the Seljuk Han hall. To the applause of those present, the heads of state signed a number of agreements aimed at further strengthening the strategic partnership. Among the signed documents are memorandums of cooperation in the field of maritime transport, postal services, archiving and digitalization, as well as agreements in the gas industry and transport and logistics.

The heads of state addressed the media, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
