A delegation of seven representatives of major news sites of Turkmenistan continues its cultural and educational visit to the Turkish city of Izmir, Türkiye. The trip, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye jointly with Turkish Airlines, began on September 29, a reporter of “Turkmenportal” reports.
On the first day of their stay, the journalists visited the Alacati region, where they got acquainted with many local attractions, including an old windmill that is more than 150 years old.
The second day of the visit was devoted to exploring Urla, a historical district located 35 km from the center of Izmir. The delegation visited local boutiques and workshops where unique handicrafts such as carpets, textiles, woodwork and ceramics are created. The journalists were particularly impressed by the XIV century Fatih Ibrahim Bey Mosque, which has been preserved almost in its original form.
Turkmen journalists noted that Urla is a unique place where ancient traditions harmoniously combine with modern art. They also learned about famous residents of the region, in particular about the Turkish writer and philosopher Necip Azer.
In the coming days, the delegation plans to visit the Olive Oil Museum, the ancient city of Ephesus and the Archaeological Museum to gain a deeper understanding of the region's history. The visit of Turkmen journalists to Izmir is aimed at strengthening cultural ties between Turkmenistan and Türkiye.
