In November 2024, a concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the legendary French-Armenian chansonnier Charles Aznavour will be held in Ashgabat. This was reported by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Turkmenistan Ruben Kharazyan on the pages of the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.

The event, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, will be held at the Mukam Palace. The State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan will perform the works of the world-famous artist, whose work has become a symbol of the cultural bridge between the East and the West. Charles Aznavour, known as the “French Frank Sinatra”, left an indelible mark on world music, combining Armenian roots and French chanson.

The concert program will include Aznavour’s most famous compositions in symphonic arrangements, which will allow the Turkmen public to take a new look at the work of the great chansonnier.

In addition, in October 2024, Turkmenistan will host the Days of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, which will include various events dedicated to Armenian culture and history. Cultural ties between the two countries have always played an important role in the development of bilateral relations, as evidenced by the recent visit of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan to Turkmenistan and the opening of a monument to the great Armenian poet Sayat-Nova.

In the near future, it is also planned to publish a collection of poems by Magtymguly Fragi in Armenian, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet, which will be another step in strengthening cultural ties between Turkmenistan and Armenia.
