An unusual incident occurred in the prestigious Roman district of Prati. A 38 years old robber, having entered the house of a 71 years old man with the purpose of robbery, was so engrossed in reading a book that he forgot about his criminal intentions, pravilamag.ru reports with reference to Nova and Wanted in Rome.

The thief noticed Giovanni Nucci's book “The Gods at Six: “The Iliad” at the Aperitif Hour” (Gli dèi alle sei: L'Iliade all'ora dell'aperitivo) lying on the bedside table in the bedroom. Immersed in his reading, he completely forgot about the time and that he was in someone else's house.

While the robber was enjoying the story, the owner of the apartment woke up and discovered an uninvited guest. The man immediately called his neighbors for help and called the police.

Arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers found the thief on the balcony trying to escape. The offender was detained, with a bag containing designer items, presumably stolen earlier.

The Italian media has already dubbed the robber an “intellectual”. And writer Giovanni Nucci, having learned of this unusual story, expressed a desire to meet the thief and give him his book.
