Starting this year, a new area of specialization – defectology – is opening at the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi, located in the city of Turkmenabat. This scientific discipline studies the characteristics of teaching and raising children with various disabilities in physical, intellectual, mental and emotional development. Science includes various areas: correctional pedagogy, rehabilitation, speech therapy and others.
The university has already completed entrance exams, and among the first-year students are young people from all regions of Turkmenistan, including the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, Jeyhun.news reports.
Currently, a complex of new buildings of the institute is being built, which is planned to be put into operation by September 1, 2026.
