Turkmenistan is preparing for the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Days of Turkmen Culture were held in Hungary, the international exhibition “Kids Expo: everything for children” starts on August 19 and other news

1. Turkmenistan is actively preparing for the start of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The country, elected vice-chairman of the upcoming session, plans to put forward a number of important initiatives aimed at strengthening peace, security and sustainable development. Among the key proposals are the development of a Global Security Strategy, the creation of a training program for UN global mediators and the initiation of a Global Framework for the Transition to a Circular Economy.

2. The Days of Culture of Turkmenistan, which took place these days in Hungary, attracted the attention of numerous spectators. The best groups of the country, renowned ensembles, famous soloists brought to the Hungarian land a diverse palette of Turkmen culture and art, generously gifting the audience and listeners with their skill, talent and originality. The Turkmen delegation also took part in the Kurultai festival, which took place in the Bacs-Kiskun region in the town of Bugach. This year, the festival was decorated with impressive entrance gates reminiscent of the caravanserais of the Great Silk Road. Master classes on the Turkmen art of carpet weaving and wood carving were organized for the participants and guests of the festival.

3. On August 19, the international exhibition and fair "Kids Expo: everything for children" will open in Ashgabat. Kids Expo is being organized for the first time in the capital of Turkmenistan and promises to become an important event in the industry of children's goods and services. The exhibition and fair will be held at the exhibition site behind the "Garagum" hotel.

4. A series of professional development workshops for English teachers has begun in Turkmenistan. The workshops are attended by 100 teachers from all over Turkmenistan, improving their skills in curriculum development, materials, and TESOL methodology. The five-day training is organized by the U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat jointly with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. The workshops are led by English language specialist Nancy Eccles.

5. A training center for professional training of drivers and operators of vehicles engaged in international transportation is planned to be opened in Turkmenistan. The center will be accredited by the International Road Transport Union. Professional training of drivers and transport operators will be carried out at the Center in accordance with international standards, especially for transportation to European countries.

6. A round table dedicated to the culture of ancient Anau was held yesterday at the State Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan. The event was organized in honor of Anau being awarded the status of the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024. One of the topics of discussion was the medieval architectural complex – the Seyit Jemaledin Mosque. The participants of the event noted that the unique mosaic decor of the mosque portal, executed with great skill, testifies to the advanced development of the architectural art of Anau.

7. Tajikistan will become a manufacturer of electric vehicles in the near future. According to the plan, production will be established within the framework of a joint venture with Chinese companies. Although the specific names of the partners have not yet been disclosed, it is clear that Tajikistan is seeking cooperation with the world's leading manufacturers in this field. Tajikistan's Minister of Transport Azim Ibrohim emphasized that the country has significant potential for the development of electric transport.

8. Chinese financial institutions are actively introducing innovative tools to stimulate the transition to a low-carbon economy. One such tool is personal “carbon accounts,” which permit bank customers to accumulate points for environmentally responsible actions and use them to pay for goods and services. There are thirteen different ways to earn “green points” that take into account different aspects of a low-carbon lifestyle. To date, more than 15 million people have opened personal carbon accounts, and the cumulative reduction in carbon emissions due to this initiative has exceeded 90 thousand tons.

9. Saudi Arabia's "Al-Taawun", Iraq's "Air Force" and Bahrain's "Al-Haldiyah" were drawn against Turkmenistan's "Altyn Asyr" in the AFC Champions League 2 draw held in Kuala Lumpur. The group stage matches of the tournament will be held from September 16 to December 4. All teams will play three matches, home and away. Two teams from each group will advance to the 1/8 finals.

10. Today, the third round of the Turkmenistan Football Championship among the clubs of the Premier League of the 2024 season will begin at the "Nisa" stadium in Ashgabat. The 19th round will open with the match between "Ahal" and "Ashgabat". The game will start at 17:30. Two more matches will take place on August 17: "Arkadag" will host "Shagadam" at the "Nisa" stadium in Ashgabat, and "Nebitchi" will play "Kopetdag" at the Balkanabat Sports Complex.
