Turkmenistan discusses UNESCO Clubs and Chairs' Tasks for the New Academic Year

An online meeting was held in Turkmenistan to discuss joint activities with UNESCO departments and clubs in the 2024-2025 academic year.

The meeting, timed to coincide with the International Day of the Caspian Sea, was organized by the Secretariat of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO and the country's first UNESCO Club "Languages of the

World" at the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages. This was reported by "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

The meeting was attended by the referents of the Secretariat of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, heads of the UNESCO clubs: "Ahal-Teke horses - ambassadors of peace" of the International Horse

Breeding Academy named after Aba Annayev, "Medicinal plants - our health, our heritage" of the Myrat Garryyev State Medical University of Turkmenistan, "Culture of peace" of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, "Environmental protection - an important concept of sustainable development" of the Turkmen Agricultural Institute, "Languages of the World" of the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National

Institute of World Languages; as well as heads of the UNESCO departments "Cultural heritage: from the past to the future" of the Magtymguly Turkmen State University and "Environmental education for sustainable development" of the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi.

The meeting participants discussed the tasks of UNESCO clubs and departments to improve the environmental culture of young people in the new academic year, and emphasized the importance of explaining Turkmenistan’s constructive initiatives and approaches to issues of cooperation in protecting the Caspian ecosystem, and the content of multilateral documents that create its legal framework.

These topics will be comprehensively covered in classes, competitions and other events that are planned to be held regularly among student youth.

Particular attention will be paid to the important contribution of Turkmenistan to sustainable development in the Caspian Sea and ensuring its environmental well-being, and the active participation of the country's representatives in UNESCO activities and projects in the area of increasing environmental literacy, the source notes.
