Medical students of Turkmenistan completed internships at universities in Russia and Belarus

Practical training was organized for students of the Myrat Garryyev State Medical University of Turkmenistan in higher educational institutions of Russia and Belarus. This was reported in the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.

Thus, a group of fourth-year students of the medical faculty of a Turkmen university completed an internship at the clinical institutions of the Astrakhan State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia. The practice was organized within the framework of a Memorandum between two specialized universities of Turkmenistan and Russia on mutual cooperation in the field of medical science and education.

Within the framework of the internship, targeted excursions were organized for Turkmen students to the Federal Center for Cardiovascular Surgery and to sights of Astrakhan. Within the framework of their internship, Turkmen students also visited the Ophthalmological Center and the Federal Center for Cardiovascular Surgery, where they were able to apply their skills in the departments of therapy, cardiology, medical rehabilitation, the emergency department and, importantly, were praised by local doctors and teachers.

The internship program for students of the Turkmen Medical University was also enriched with excursions to simulation centers of other universities in Astrakhan, where they were shown the latest models of simulation equipment used in interactive learning.

Another group of students from the Myrat Garryyev State Medical University underwent a two-week professional internship at the Belarusian State Medical University on the basis of the “Minsk Scientific and Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantology and Hematology”, directly in some of its departments.

Future Turkmen doctors learned to conduct examinations, medical manipulations, work with medical documentation, applying in practice the knowledge acquired at the university. All this time, they were supervised by experienced mentors who helped them develop clinical thinking, enriched their communication skills with patients and their relatives, and taught them how to make emergency decisions.

In Belarus, Turkmen students were shown warm hospitality everywhere, they were gladly accepted into friendly professional teams, sharing with them the best experience of professional work, the source notes.
