The National Music and Drama Theater named after Magtymguly hosted the concert “Italian Symphony” performed by the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan under the direction of Rasul Klychev. This is stated in the message of the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

The program opened with “Italian Symphony No. 4” by the German composer Felix Mendelssohn, author of the famous “Wedding March”. The four movements of the symphony, inspired by Italy, kept listeners on emotional suspense and ended with folk dance motifs.

Then the “Italian Capriccio” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was performed – an improvisational piece inspired by the composer’s trip to Italy. The work, reflecting Tchaikovsky’s admiration for the country and the temperament of the Italian people, was warmly received by the public.

The concert ended with two overtures by the Italian composer Gioachino Rossini to the operas “The Thieving Magpie” and “William Tell”. The melodic richness of Rossini’s compositions evoked prolonged applause. As an encore, the orchestra performed a fragment from the ballet “Swan Lake” by Tchaikovsky.

Artistic director and chief conductor Rasul Klychev, addressing the audience, announced a break in concerts until September and wished them a pleasant holiday in the atmosphere of the Turkmen summer.
