The crew of the Russian “KAMAZ-master” team, led by Dmitry Sotnikov, became the winner of the 2024 “Silk Way” rally raid in the truck category, TASS reports.
On July 15, the final, 11th stage of the race ended in Ulaanbaatar. The length of the special stage was 323,51 km. According to the results of the competition, Dmitry Sotnikov took first place in the overall standings. Second place went to his teammate Eduard Nikolayev. The Belarusian MAZ crew led by Sergei Vyazovich won bronze.
For Sotnikov, this is already the fifth victory in the “Silk Way”. He previously became champion in 2013, 2017, 2021 and 2022.
The “Silk Way” rally has been held since 2009. This season the race started on July 5 and consisted of 11 stages. The participants covered more than 5000 km, of which almost 3000 km were in high-speed special stages.
