A new Minister of Education of Turkmenistan has been appointed

Gurbangeldiev Jumamyrat Shamyradovich has been appointed the new Minister of Education of Turkmenistan. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the corresponding Decree during an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers based on the results of six months of 2024, TDH reports.

As the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiev replaced Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva, who was relieved of her post in connection with her appointment to the post of Deputy Prime Minister for Science, Education, Health and Sports.

Expressing deep gratitude to the head of Turkmenistan for the high trust shown, J. Gurbangeldiev assured that he would do everything in his power to further improve the sphere he headed.

Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiev was born in 1970 in the city of Turkmenabat, Lebap velayat. In 1992 he graduated from the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi. By profession – historian, teacher of law and social studies.

He began his career in 1992 as a history teacher at secondary school No. 54 of the Gorogly etrap, Dashoguz velayat. In the period 1992–1998 – graduate student, senior researcher at the Department of Oriental Studies of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.

In 1998 – junior researcher at the department of the Institute of History under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. In 1998–2003 he worked as a teacher of history and geography at the Turkmen-Turkish boarding school in Ashgabat.

In the period 2001–2003, he was a senior researcher at the Institute of History under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. In 2003–2008, he held various positions in the editorial office of the international popular science magazine “Miras” of the State Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Central Asia and the East under the President of Turkmenistan.

From 2008 to 2012 – lecturer, senior lecturer at the Department of Humanities and Natural Sciences at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

In 2012–2013 – Acting Head of Education at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. In the period 2013–2020 – Vice-Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan for academic affairs.

Since July 2020 – Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Awarded the “Watana bolan söýgüsi üçin” and “Gaýrat” medals, as well as the anniversary medals “Türkmenistanyň Garaşsyzlygynyň 20 ýyllygyna”, “Türkmenistanyň Bitaraplygynyň 25 ýyllygyna” and “Türkmenistanyň Garaş syzlygynyň 30 ýyllygyna.”
