Mark O'Hara, a British entrepreneur, recently concluded a deal to sell his company Preqin. Preqin, founded by O'Hara in 2002, specializes in analysis of financial markets and alternative investments. The company serves more than 200 thousand clients around the world. The new owner of Preqin is the American corporation BlackRock, one of the largest investment firms on a global scale. O'Hara will continue to work at BlackRock as a vice president.
Prior to the sale, O'Hara owned 80% of Preqin. The company has experienced impressive growth over the past three years, increasing profits by 20% annually. The total value of the deal was 2,55 billion pounds (3,2 billion USD), of which O'Hara and his wife Lindy will keep 2,4 billion.
Thanks to this deal, the O'Hara couple will become one of the hundred richest people in Britain. The 510 million pounds distribution will affect both Preqin's management team and its 1500 employees.
