Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ali Mojtaba Ruzbekhani expressed confidence in the further strengthening of interstate relations between Tehran and Ashgabat. The diplomat stated this after a meeting between the leaders of the state concern “Turkmengas” and the Iranian delegation in the Turkmen capital, the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reports.
“As a result of the meeting, the Turkmen and Iranian sides signed an agreement on the purchase and sale of up to 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, which will be supplied to the Iraqi Republic in transit through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the SWAP scheme,” said the Iranian ambassador.
According to Ruzbekhani, the agreements reached reflect the level of mutual understanding established during the summit meetings of the two countries. He expressed confidence that the implementation of such significant projects will help strengthen bilateral relations.
Earlier it was reported that Turkmenistan and Iran signed a contract for the supply of Turkmen gas to Iraq.
