Hero of Turkmenistan and Russia, test cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for congratulations on his 60th anniversary.
Kononenko, who celebrated his anniversary on June 21, 2024 on board the International Space Station, thanked him for his attention and warm wishes. He also congratulated the Turkmen people on the anniversary of the opening of the city of Arkadag and expressed his readiness to promote the development of Turkmen-Russian cooperation in the space sector, the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper reported.
It is worth noting that Oleg Kononenko set a world record for the total duration of space flights. On June 5, he became the first person to reach 1000 days in space.
A native of Turkmenabat, Kononenko is now on his fifth space flight, which began on September 15, 2023. Its mission is expected to last until September 23, 2024, bringing its total time in space to 1110 days.
