The Russian capital welcomes the third Moscow Jazz Festival. Over the course of five days, the best musicians of the genre will delight residents and guests of the city with their performances at various concert venues.

The festival opened In the Concert Hall named after P.I. Tchaikovsky to the fiery improvisations of the orchestra of the legendary Russian saxophonist Igor Butman. This year his team celebrates its 25th anniversary, MIR 24 reports.

“Today we will delight the audience with a special program dedicated to the opening of the festival,” said maestro Butman. – And we will perform at open venues, despite weather forecasters’ forecasts of rain. For such cases, we have stocked waterproof raincoats for spectators.

The main vocal star of the festival will be the owner of a formidable baritone with hoarse notes, Allan Harris from the USA. An outstanding singer, guitarist and composer, he recorded more than 20 albums during his career.

Another special guest is Fantine, a Moscow native with Dominican roots, who sings in pop, jazz and soul styles. Israeli double bassist Avishai Cohen and Cameroonian bass guitarist Richard Bona will perform on the same stage with her.

In addition to concerts, spectators will enjoy thematic lectures and master classes from jazz stars. The atmosphere of a jazz festival will reign in Moscow until the end of the festival on June 16.
