Global warming on Earth caused by human activity has accelerated, according to a study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published in the journal Earth System Science Data.

“Human-caused warming is increasing at an unprecedented rate, reaching 0.26 degrees Celsius per decade during 2014–2023,” the article said.

IPCC experts attribute this level of warming to a combination of high levels of greenhouse gas emissions and a decrease in the strength of aerosol cooling. At the same time, they note that the growth rate of CO2 emissions over the past decade has slowed down compared to 2000 years.

However, according to scientists, the planet has entered a “critical decade” due to the high rate of temperature rise. “Global warming of 1.5 degrees Celsius can be expected to be reached or exceeded over the next ten years,” they warned, while not ruling out the possibility that “global greenhouse gas emissions will peak and begin to decline substantially” during that same period.
