The best readers of the Golden Bookmark competition were identified at the Gujurly Bilim Merkezi training center

A Golden Bookmark competition for reading books in Turkmen, Russian and English was held among students, staff and teachers of the Gujurly Bilim Merkezi Center. Its results were summed up on May 18.

The competition was organized within the framework of the Year “The Fount of Wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi” and in honor of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet-thinker. 150 students of the Center, as well as 15 of its teachers and staff took part in the competition, organized with the support of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

Adult students and teachers competed on the work of the famous American writer Mark Twain “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” in Turkmen, and in English on the book “A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeleine L’Engle. Younger listeners demonstrated their talents by reading Carlo Collodi’s “Pinocchio” in Turkmen, and Michael Bond’s “Paddington Bear” in Russian.

According to the rules of the exciting competition, prizes are determined depending on the number of participants. Namely, if 3 people participate, only 1 place is awarded, if from 3 to 9 people, 1st and 2nd places are announced. If 10 or more people try their hand at reading the relevant books, 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize places are determined.

As a result, according to the results of the next stage of the Golden Bookmark competition, the only prize among teachers for reading a book in the Turkmen language was taken by Oguljennet Illiyeva. According to the book in English, teacher Saparmuhammet Suvhanov won, and Gujurly Bilim Merkezi specialist Haltach Mammetshayeva, teachers Gulshat Amanmuradova, Merdan Shadurdyev, Ogultuvak Nazarova and Rovshen Myratgulyev, sharing the success equally, shared the 2nd prize.

In the competition for reading a book in the Turkmen language among adult listeners of the Center, 1st place was taken by Merjen Shadyeva, 2nd place by Humay Nazarova, and 3rd place by Begench Annaorazov. For the book in English, the places were distributed as follows: Maya Guyjova - 1st place, Chinar Garlyeva - 2nd place, Nailya Gasanova - 3rd place.

A competition among younger students on a book in the Turkmen language ended with the victory of Akmay Gochmuradova. In this competition, Selbi Muhammetjumayeva took 2nd place, and Shalar Dovletmuradov was awarded 3rd place. According to the book in Russian, Nuryagdy Jumahanov took 1st place, and Ayson Orazov took 2nd place. The winners of the competition were awarded with valuable gifts.

It is worth noting that the Golden Bookmark competition is held by the Gujurly Bilim Merkezi training center every academic semester. It was first held in 2016. An interesting fact is that in just 28 stages of the competition, a total of 121 books were read in Turkmen, Russian and English, which is about 18 500 pages.
