Ombudsman of Turkmenistan Yazdursun Gurbannazarova and the head of the UNICEF Office in Turkmenistan Mohammad Fayazi during the meeting discussed issues of cooperation in the field of protecting and promoting children's rights, creating the necessary conditions for quality education, health care and comprehensive development of the country's children.
The parties noted the previously achieved results of fruitful interaction and discussed further actions within the framework of the implementation of the “Framework Program for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development between Turkmenistan and the UN for 2021-2025”, “National Action Plan for Human Rights in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025”, as well as the “National Action Plan for the implementation of children’s rights in Turkmenistan for 2023-2028”.
Joint work to create a separate direction on the rights of children and women in the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan, the preparation of an Alternative report of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan on the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as various activities to protect and promote the rights and interests of children in the country were noted as successful examples bilateral cooperation.
The parties paid special attention to the important role of the Charitable Fund named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, created on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, to assist children in need of care, the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reports.
