On May 20, 2024, a meeting was held between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia D. Seitmammedov and the Prime Minister of Georgia I. Kobakhidze, the press service of the Turkmen embassy reported to Turkmenportal.

The parties noted with satisfaction the active growth of Turkmen-Georgian relations, as well as the positive experience of multilateral interaction within the framework of authoritative international and regional organizations.
Issues discussed:

• State and prospects of trade and economic relations
• Development of interaction in industry, transport, fuel and energy sector
• Cultural and humanitarian sphere

Particular attention was paid to the role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Georgian Commission on Economic Cooperation in the context of the further development of trade and economic relations.

The Ambassador introduced the Prime Minister to the ceremonial events on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, which will be held in Turkmenistan and abroad. He invited the Prime Minister to the International Forum of Heads of State and Government dedicated to this event, which will be held in October 2024 in Ashgabat.

It was also noted that on May 17 of this year, with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, monuments to the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi, as well as poets and thinkers of other countries, were unveiled in the cultural and park complex “Magtymguly Pyragy”. Among them is a monument to the great Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli.

I. Kobakhidze expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the invitation, as well as for this initiative, noting that the opening of the monument will help strengthen cultural ties between the two countries and peoples.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that traditionally friendly interstate relations, a strategic partnership based on trust, mutual respect and consideration of each other’s interests, will serve as the key to further strengthening Turkmen-Georgian cooperation
