In Mexico City, a small taco stand called El Califa de León has won a Michelin star, daily.afisha.ru reports with reference to Business Insider.
The establishment, founded more than 50 years ago in the San Rafael area, seats only a few people at a time. Orders here are usually accepted through the window.
El Califa de León's menu is laconic: only four items. But it is the tacos, according to Michelin experts, that are the real gem of this place. Each taco costs 5 USD.
The secret to success lies in simplicity, according to chef Arturo Rivera Martinez: “Tortilla, red or green sauce, quality meat. This is all”.
The name El Califa de León pays homage to the Mexican bullfighter Rodolfo Gaone, nicknamed “El Califa de León”.
