Queen Camilla of Great Britain has promised not to buy clothes made from real fur anymore. This became known thanks to a letter sent by representatives of the royal family to the animal rights organization PETA. Reports daily.afisha.ru with reference to the Independent.
“It is right for the British monarchy to reflect British values by recognizing that fur has no place in our society”, - PETA commented on the queen’s decision.
However, Queen Camilla does not rule out the possibility of using fur items already in her wardrobe. Elizabeth II previously acted in a similar way: in 2019, she refused to buy new fur products, but kept those that she already had.
Previously, famous actor and writer Stephen Fry called on the Royal Guard to stop using real bear fur for their famous hats. “Tradition can never be an excuse for cruelty”, - Fry said.
Buckingham Palace responded to Fry's call that the fur for the guards' hats was obtained through “legal and licensed hunting”.
