New data from the Institute of German Economics in Cologne shows that fathers in Germany are increasingly involved in the lives of their children.

Over the past two decades, the amount of time German dads spend with children under 6 has increased significantly. In 2001, they spent an average of about 2.8 hours a day caring for their babies, and in 2021 that figure has risen to 4.7 hours.

Today, 21% of German fathers spend more than 6 hours a day with their young children, which was almost unthinkable in 2001.

In addition, men began to participate more in household chores. The share of fathers who spend up to two hours a day on cleaning, laundry and other household chores has grown from 61% to 85% over 20 years. Euro-pulse.ru reports this.
