The German football club “Bayer” drew 2:2 with the Italian “Roma” in the second semi-final match of the Europa League and, on aggregate (2:0, 2:2), reached the final of the tournament. The meeting was held in Leverkusen.
“Bayer” have not suffered a single defeat this season. The team, led by Spanish coach Xabi Alonso, is unbeaten in 49 matches. In the Europa League final, she will play with the Italian “Atalanta”, which defeated the French “Marseille” on aggregate (1:1, 3:0).
“Atalanta” will play in the final of a European Cup tournament for the first time in its history. “Bayer” will play in the final of the second most important European tournament for the second time in history: in 1988, the team won the UEFA Cup, beating the Spanish “Espanyol”. In 2002, Bayer played in the Champions League final, where they lost to “Real Madrid” with a score of 1:2.
The current winner of the Europa League is the Spanish “Sevilla”. The final match of the current draw will be held on May 22 in Dublin.
