Due to stricter regulations on carrying bladed weapons around the world, Victorinox, known for its Swiss Army knives, plans to release a model without a blade. Snob.ru reports this with reference to Blick.
In recent years, restrictions on the carrying of bladed weapons have become stricter in many countries, including the UK and Asia. Last year, a man was even fined in Japan for carrying a Victorinox knife.
The head of the company, Karl Elsener, explained that in some countries the blade is perceived as a weapon, although Victorinox multitools are multifunctional tools that people use for a variety of purposes, including minor repairs.
Instead of a blade, the new model may feature tools aimed at cyclists.
Victorinox, founded in 1884 in Ibach, canton of Schwyz, is the largest manufacturer of Swiss knives. 80% of the company's products are exported.
