This fashion was popularized by the famous blogger Chen Jiangan. After she performed this operation on herself, many Chinese women followed her example.
According to Chen Jiangan, protruding ears make her look younger and slimmer. The effect can be achieved in two ways: using hyaluronic acid injections (temporary effect) or plastic surgery (longer-term result).
