An important seminar is being held in Ashgabat these days, bringing together representatives of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The event program includes a number of thematic sessions, the first of which is dedicated to the presentation of the cash-voucher assistance program as a tool for effective response to crisis situations. Participants will also learn about best practices in developing relevant action plans by National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in other countries, TDH reports.
The National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan, founded in 1926, is the country's oldest humanitarian organization and represents it in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. NRCPT makes a significant contribution to socio-economic transformations, protection of citizens, health care, strengthening of family values and education of youth in the spirit of mercy and compassion - the best traditions of the Turkmen people.
Fruitful cooperation with international partners allows the Society to realize its potential and increase the level of knowledge of employees and volunteers. Thus, in January of this year, a hybrid educational event “Principles of Patriotism and Humanism” was held with the participation of the NRCPT, UNHCR, the International Federation of the Red Cross, the ICRC and other structures. During the meeting, issues of interaction with the UN, ministries, plans for the implementation of international humanitarian law in 2024-2026 were discussed.
