The city hall of Milan wants to limit the night trade of street food in order to calm down noisy celebrations and ensure the sleep of city residents. This was reported by iz.ru with reference to Sky news.

The bill proposed by the city would ban the sale of takeout food, including pizza, ice cream and drinks, after midnight.

“The goal is to find a balance between communication and entertainment, as well as peace and tranquility for residents,” said Milan Deputy Mayor Marco Granelli.

The restrictions are planned to be introduced from May to November. The ban will include not only street food stalls, but also the summer terraces of cafes and restaurants. The sale of food and drinks there will be prohibited after 00:30 on weekdays and after 01:30 on weekends and holidays.

It is worth noting that this is not the first attempt by the Milan authorities to restrict night food trading. In 2013, a similar initiative already met resistance from citizens and entrepreneurs.

Milan residents now have until the beginning of May to express their views on the bill and make proposals for its changes.
