Pakistan expects to receive final approval to begin construction work on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline by the end of the second quarter of 2024. The publication Nebit-Gaz writes about this with reference to the Inter State Gas Systems company, operating under the auspices of the oil division of the Ministry of Energy of Pakistan.

The need to implement TAPI is dictated by Pakistan’s growing needs for gas imports against the backdrop of demand exceeding domestic production volumes, as noted in a November report by S&P Global.

According to the plan, the TAPI gas pipeline will annually transport 33 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas from the Galkynysh field through the Afghan cities of Herat and Kandahar, Pakistani Chaman, Zhob, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan to the final point in Fazilka on the Indo-Pakistan border.

The executive director of the operating company TAPI Pipeline Company Limited, Muhammetmyrat Amanov, will speak on April 24 at a special session of the Turkmen Energy Investment Forum in Paris, dedicated to the prospects for natural gas production in the context of the energy transition.
